What Is a Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit? How Does It Work?

Most of us reading this will hear “brush” and wince, thinking of scrubbing and, well, chores. Not so with “drill”! Drills are fun. More fun than brushes. But what is this “brush on a drill?” It’s why some of us will realize we need a drill and why any of us who ever watched “Home Improvement” or “This Old House” will gleefully buy one to stick on their Milwaukee power drill.

A Drillbrush is just that. A brush that goes on your drill. But there’s not just one Drillbrush; there are dozens. Different sizes. Different shapes. Different bristle strengths for different surfaces.

The Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit – A Quick Look

Pros
  • Hold down on a trigger and it scrubs fast
  • Fits on anything that holds a standard drill bit, including extensions
  • Incredibly easy to use
  • Surprisingly sturdy
  • Cleans toilet bowls faster than anything else you’ve ever used
Cons
  • Some sets don’t come with extensions
  • Not as effective for pet hair removal

Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit Pricing

Is it worth the money? I am being perfectly honest when I say I believe it’s worth more than it costs. Let me indulge my inner Scot by explaining why I think you should spend money (it’s against my heritage to advise anyone to spend money):

Say you work at a job that pays you $10 an hour. Now say you scrub your toilet and it takes you 10 minutes to really get the bowl clean. A Drillbrush can do that in 5 minutes or less. If you clean your toilet once a week (and you better!) then you will save 5 minutes per toilet per week. Say you have two toilets. That’s 10 minutes a week, 52 weeks a year, or 520 minutes, or more than 8 hours. At $10 an hour, that’s over $80 in time.

In short, it’s a great deal. There’s also the fact that you’ve never actually cleaned your toilet (or other curved/textured/inset surfaces) as well as a Drillbrush can. We’ll get into why.

What to Expect From the Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit

Inside the Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit box, you get the following:

  • 4 inch flat brush (best for carpet, hardwood floors, and cushions)
  • 2 inch detail brush (best for smaller areas)
  • Bullet-shaped original brush (best for curves and contours on furniture)

Quality

The Drillbrush is exactly what you would expect for a bristled scrubber. As far as toilet brushes go (and I KNOW it’s used for other things, but it’s so darn good at that and shaped like one!), it’s likely the highest quality and best design I’ve ever used.

Variety

This is where I got a little confused initially. There are a lot of Drillbrushes. Small circles, medium circles, toilet brushes, different colors, and some have more than one color on the same brush.

Obviously, the shapes were for different surfaces, but surely the colors aren’t purely aesthetic.

Turns out they aren’t. The colors signify how rigid the bristles are. The more rigid, the harder the bristles and the more aggressive they are. The harder bristled brushes are used for rougher surfaces where you have to scrub harder. The website and included material (and the printing on the outside of the box) do a good job of explaining how it works.

Reach

Unless you get a set with an extension, you quickly find out you can’t really fit a drill in your toilet. Man, that’s a sentence I never thought I’d type.

Similarly, you’ll have a hard time reaching the back of a dog kennel, inside of a chicken coop, or the bottom of a deep sink, and you’ll have to get down on your hands and knees to scrub the floor. Scrubbing on hands and knees started when mankind invented floors in the 15th century, and it should stay there. We’re civilized and deserve to stand when we scrub the tile!

Is the Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit a Good Value?

It is! The Drillbrush lets you clean many surfaces (I have used it on a kennel I repurposed as a chicken coop, my tile floor, my wood floor, cast iron pans, and obviously a toilet) with power tools. This is much better than cleaning surfaces without power tools. I do not say this only because I am a man that loves power tools, although that is a contributing factor. I say it because scrubbing gunk off of things that need to be clean sucks.

Anything that scrubs for me faster than I can scrub means the part of my life that sucks just got shorter, and the part that doesn’t suck, or at least sucks less, got longer. That’s a good value for half the cost of a movie popcorn.

I should probably mention here that I used different brushes for various surfaces. I did not, for example, use the depooping brush on my cast iron pan.

FAQ

Does it remove pet hair from upholstery or floors?

While Drillbrush does advertise that the bullet-shaped brush removes pet hair, I did not find it that effective. It might be due to the upholstery on my furniture. Or I may have needed to slightly dampen the furniture’s surface with a light spritz of water to help the brush collect the fur.

Where would I use a Drillbrush?

Anywhere you need to scrub something that’s caked on. Cast iron pots (I’m not kidding. This lets you use a drill for doing dishes.), kennels, toilets. Especially toilets. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate how easy this thing makes it to clean a toilet.

What kind of drill works best with the Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit?

Should you get a Bosch 11264EVS Max Hammer with a 1⅝ drive? Absolutely. But not for the Drillbrush. What you really need is just about any common drill from a big box retailer or local hardware store. I always advise shopping local when possible. I would probably get a rechargeable, and if you want to get fancy, get one with a little light on it. It makes cleaning a bit easier and helps you see what you’re brushing.

What Drillbrush is best for -insert task here-?

If the surface is really sturdy (cast iron, toilet bowl, pool), get a stiff brush. If the surface is finished, or not as robust (wood floors, certain automobile exteriors/interiors), use one that’s softer. The site guides you on which ones are ideal. If the surface is mostly flat (pool, floor), get one of the flat, round brushes that let you cover a lot of surface area. If the surface is curved or has a lot of little niches (some kennel floors/corners, cast iron pans, toilet bowls), use a toilet bowl shaped brush. They’re surprisingly versatile and can get gunk out of most areas pretty well!

Our Experience With the Drillbrush Power Scrubber Kit

I got three sets of Drillbrushes. After figuring out what each was for, I decided to try them, and found out that they’re much too short and stubby for most jobs without an extension. The two roles I did not prefer an extension for were cleaning cast iron and spots on the hood of my car, where the absence of an extension gave me superior control over the brush.

I did not get an extension from Drillbrush to test, so I cannot speak to it personally.  I attached these to what I already know and love –  a Diablo extension I already had at home. They’re not terribly expensive, but the one extension costs more than a set of Drillbrushes. That said, it worked fantastically well!

The first thing I cleaned (of course) was a toilet. It was…amazing. I won’t say it was a religious experience, but I was stunned. Let me back up: the toilet was at a recently vacated rental property and let’s just say the tenant hadn’t cleaned it in a while. Yuck.

So, the Drillbrush had its work cut out for it, and man, did it work. It loosened, it removed, it scrubbed, and I was so thankful I left my drill on the low speed setting because even with that there was a little splashback. Thankfully not enough to hit me, but it was a near thing, and I’m still planning on discussing it with my therapist.

One more sincere observation on the toilet: this brush gets under the rim around the edge of the bowl where the water comes out. You may think you get under the rim, but you don’t. I also used this brush on a very clean (or so I thought) toilet of my own, and it spun out all kinds of…oh yeah, I can’t use that word here…from under that rim. And it did it fast.

Lastly, those brown marks left in the after photos are hard water stains, not poo. That’s deposited iron and no amount of brushing or scrubbing removes it, only the use of appropriate cleaning chemicals.

I got special permission to include photos of the toilet for this article. Gross? Sure. But the entire point is to help you understand if this is a good product for you, and if you have a toilet, it is!

I used it on my chicken coop and it helped loosen a lot of the crud. I used it on a cast iron pan as well. The Drillbrush almost makes it look like a polished surface!

I’m sincerely considering getting one of my old wired drills and a set of Drillbrushes to keep next to the sink. Who knew Ryobi belongs right next to KitchenAid on my sink counter? Certainly not my wife, who couldn’t be happier with the clean dishes. We’ll stay quiet on what she thinks about the aesthetics of a bright green drill in the kitchen.

Conclusion

The Drillbrush is an innovative concept that is executed well in the real world. It really does make many kinds of cleaning easier. The negatives I’ve seen about it online are the result of applying it to something simply not applicable to its design. Caked on crud that you could scrub off with a hand brush and hot water. That’s the target, and if you hit it with this tool, you’ll save yourself a lot of spent effort and time. It’s a remarkably good value for the price if you already own a drill and the only product I can recall reviewing that has earned multiple places in my home. Get one and use it the way I have. Then come up with some novel uses you have for it. You won’t regret the experience!

What Is Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray? How Does It Work?

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray is a concentrated formula designed to be used outdoors on grass, plants, and areas frequented by outdoor animals. The formula combines natural insecticides and pesticides and essential oils to create a potent treatment for outdoor areas. All you have to do is spray the product onto the places where you believe bugs are present, and the active ingredients do the rest. The product is rated to kill and prevent fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. This particular product comes with a hose sprayer adapter that makes treating large areas very easy. The treatment should kill certain bugs on contact, and the formula should work to prevent and repel insects in the area for up to one week (weather depending).

Here is what I discovered during the testing of Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray, including my firsthand experience, the ingredients, an FAQ section, and more.

  • No harsh or toxic chemicals

  • Works right away and covers a large area
Cons

  • Price can be so-so depending on your goals and usage

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Pricing

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray is priced at $46 on Innovet’s website. At the time of writing this, Innovet was the only seller that I could find for this product (meaning you can’t price shop). Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray seems to be frequently on sale for $35.50, a 23% savings.

Innovet also allows you to subscribe to repeat shipping orders. If you subscribe, you save an additional 15%. That drops the price to $30 per bottle. You have to choose a frequency at which you want to receive this product in the future. You can choose 30, 45, 60, or 90 days.

What to Expect from Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray is a simple and straightforward product. Everything you need comes right in the box. What you will need from your end is a working spigot and a hose to attach it to. You can expect great short-term effectiveness, a heavenly smell, and a safe, natural formula. Everything works as you would expect. The bottle is clearly labeled and gives you all of the information you need. There are no other instructions, so Innovet assumes you know how to attach a hose sprayer to a bottle.

  • One sprayer nozzle with hose adapter

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Effectiveness

I felt like I noticed the results right away. The ability to see the spray soak your lawn and the visceral scent makes you feel like you are getting instant results. Over time, the scent seems to go away. The product is rated for “up to one week” of protection, which means it could actually be less than a week, depending on the environmental conditions.

The product seems effective, and it is a pleasure to use. I only wish that it lasted longer. The thing about natural ingredients, in most cases, is that they do not last as long as synthetic products. Some synthetic products can last up to a month or more before you have to reapply. But they are also filled with undesirable chemicals. So, there is a big tradeoff there.

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Product Variety

There are two different versions of the Innovet Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray. The product we reviewed was the Innovet Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray with Hose Adapter. The other variety is the same product, the same bottle, except that it has a traditional push sprayer on it like a standard cleaning supply bottle. The hose adapter feels essential if you are trying to treat a yard or garden. The standard sprayer might be fine for small areas like a porch, individual kennels, or flower beds.

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray User Experience

This product is very straightforward to use. I took it out of the box (it was bubble wrapped, which was a nice touch to protect it during shipping) and assembled it. Assembly took just a couple of minutes. All you need to do is insert the straw, remove the safety cap, and screw the sprayer into place. Then, just hook up your hose, point, and shoot. Overall, it was very simple. The scent was immediately noticeable, and that is how I knew that I had assembled it properly and that the product was working as intended.

Is Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray a Good Value?

It depends. If you want something that gives you 100% protection, around the clock, 24/7, then this product is going to get very expensive very fast. Depending on how much you use it or what kind of area you are spraying, you could end up spending $35–$70 per month. However, if you are willing to use this product sparingly or in specific situations, like before a party or if you see stray animals in your yard, it will last much longer, which instantly boosts the value. I plan on using it sparingly (my dog is on flea and tick prevention, so it is not critical to heavily use this spray). The cost plus the amazing scent is a good value for my particular usage.

FAQ

Does Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Really Smell Good?

Yes. Scents are somewhat subjective, but this formula really smells amazing. It was the first thing I noticed when using the product. It simply smells amazing. That makes it great for spraying in areas of your yard that might stink due to activities by your dog.

How Long Does the Yard Control Last?

The product is rated to repel and kill insects for up to one week. The natural ingredients are safe, but they also dissolve and absorb into the dirt over time. You will have to reapply periodically to keep up the protection for extended periods of time.

Is Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Easy to Use?

Yes. It only took me a couple of seconds to hook up the hose and turn the sprayer on. It immediately started spraying, and the scent hit right away. The only part I didn’t enjoy was disconnecting the bottle, which sprayed me in the face due to built up pressure.

Is Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Safe for Animals?

Yes. With a formula that is 99% natural, there is nothing here that is dangerous to dogs. You should avoid spraying your dog with this product, and you should try to avoid getting any in the eyes or mouth, but your dog can immediately go out into the yard once you are finished spraying. You can use this around both dogs and cats that are older than 9 months old. You can even spray outdoor kennels as long as you follow the instructions provided on the bottle.

What Does Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray Repel?

Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray is rated to kill and or repel mosquitos, ticks, and fleas. It also seems to upset ants, and the oils will likely disrupt ants’ natural communication methods. I used the spray on a couple of small wasp nests on my porch while I was testing it, and it cleared the wasps out pretty well.

Our Experience With Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray

I received Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray in a simple box. Everything I needed was arranged nicely and bubble wrapped for protection. The first thing I did after opening the box was scour the bottle for information. All of the pertinent information was labeled clearly and was easy to read right on the bottle. The next thing I did was scour the ingredients list looking for anything that I might have an issue with. I didn’t find any problematic ingredients. Then I had my veterinarian look at the ingredients to see if I might have missed anything. She also gave the ingredients list a thumbs up.

After that, I spent approximately 2 minutes setting up the bottle. I removed the cap, popped off the safety seal, screwed on the adapter, screwed on the hose, and hit the water. The product worked flawlessly. The adapter has three settings, clean, rinse, and OFF which is easy to read and easy to use. I sprayed a large area around my house, focusing on the places nearest to my most frequented outdoor spaces (porch, deck, backyard etc.). I also sprayed some ant piles and wasp nests for research purposes. The wasps instantly dropped to the ground, but I couldn’t tell if they had died or were just shocked.

The product smelled great, was easy to use, and made me feel like it was effective right away. I am already planning on giving the area around my large front deck a good soaking in a day or so to re-up the smell and protective measures.

I used roughly a fifth of the bottle in my experimental session, which was less than I expected when I first started testing. Overall, I was very happy with the product and am definitely planning on using it again.

Conclusion

Most dogs and cats are on flea and tick prevention. Innovet’s Biopel Outdoor Insect Control Spray gives you another layer of protection for your outdoor spaces. My vet said this product would be good to use if you have a large presence of stray animals or wild animals. For example, if you see stray cats wandering through your yard or have spotted raccoons or possums roaming about, you can use this spray to try and kill any pests they might try to drop in your lawn. The best thing about the product was the scent. I considered getting the indoor version just so I could spray some stuff to get the smell inside as well as outside. Overall, this product received 4.2 out of 5 stars from us and is definitely worth trying out.

What Is Sunday Lawn Care? How Does It Work?

The onset of Spring is a wonderful paradox to behold. The birds are singing, the sun is shining, and the dandelions are growing in that burnt patch of your yard where the dog loves to pee. It’s depressing! You don’t even know what kind of soil you have or why that one other part of your lawn always comes in yellow instead of green.

Spring shouldn’t be so complicated. That’s where Sunday comes in with a kit specifically designed just for your yard, the tools to use it, handy web resources that teach you how to use it, and on-call experts to answer those “but I can’t FIND an article for this on your website!” questions.

Stop buying that expensive name brand fertilizer from the local big-box hardware chain and hoping that throwing extra money at fancy packaging will save your yard, or worse yet, paying that REALLY expensive service that shows up in the van and keeps you sedentary on the one day you should be out getting some rays and exercise! Throw the extra money at Sunday and get stuff that works because it’s based on a test of your actual soil and established science.

sunday lawn nutrients core seagreen fertilizers

Sunday Lawn Care – A Quick Look

Pros
  • Products are based on the soil in your yard.
  • Tools (sprayers, etc.) are shipped with the fertilizer products.
  • Customized to your family, dealing with every eventuality from basic fertilization to dog pee.
Cons
  • Pricey.
  • Tools are pretty flimsy.
  • 5+ acres folks will feel left out — product is pointed at urban/suburban lot sizes.

Sunday Lawn Care Pricing

I’m a small homesteader (around 5 acres) in the Midwest (US). When I put in the 3 acres I manage as my yard, the Sunday ordering wizard effectively told me my yard was too big and I’d have to manually get extra supplies. Fair enough. The business is pointed at in-city types, so I decided to test the service on a part of my yard that was equivalent to the lawn I had when I rented a house closer to the city.

If you live on acreage, Sunday can supply your fertilizer needs, but you’ll need extra product. I highly recommend developing a working relationship with your local farm supply folks and learning how to do it yourself, especially if you’re growing something other than a lawn on your land.

Sunday is going to make your lawn look better than your neighbor’s, not provide the exact nutrients you need for agroforestry.

For what you get, I think Sunday is fairly priced.

To replace Sunday, you have to:
  1. Get your soil tested at an independent lab.
  2. Learn specifically how to match the results with fertilizers that work for your soil.
  3. Source those fertilizers and buy them.
  4. Buy the tools to use those fertilizers.
  5. Apply the fertilizer. Use your special four-letter vocabulary when you realize you mis-bought something or need something else.
  6. Return to the store, buy the thing.
  7. Finish applying the fertilizer.
With Sunday, the process is reduced to:
  1. Sunday probably already has soil tests from around your area, and will include a soil test cost-inclusive when you get a lawn care package.
  2. Sunday sends you the fertilizer and tools you need.
  3. Apply the fertilizer following Sunday’s directions. (You have everything you need. Experts sent it to you.)

What to Expect From Sunday Lawn Care

When you sign up with Sunday, you’ll spend a few minutes maximum punching in information about where you live, how big your yard is, and if you have any special requirements (like pets that pee in your yard). The service will line you up with the ideal products, you pay, and they ship them to you.

When the 3-4 big boxes arrive, you’ll find they’re intuitive, easy to use, and everything you need is there. No trips back to the store because you didn’t realize you needed a sprayer, or forgot the Magic Potion of Getting Rid of Dandelions. Yup, that’s in there too!

Sunday Lawn Care Contents

*Use Code HG15

You’ll get (contents may vary based on your yard requirements, of course):
  • Big bags of fertilizer made from natural ingredients that Sunday says are better for this planet we live on than synthetic versions. I tend to believe that.
  • A hose sprayer.
  • An electric sprayer.
  • A bag for mixing concentrate and spraying it.
  • A magic powder for fixing pet pee burn spots in your yard (amazing stuff)!
  • A magic potion for getting rid of dandelions (but not your grass)!
  • A soil sample taking tool and a bag and box to mail in your soil to get results on what it needs. This takes 4-6 weeks, but Sunday has hundreds of thousands of samples from around the country so they can know what you need ahead of time and send it to you.
What’s NOT included:
  • A spreader for powdered fertilizer. You’ll need one of these, sold at any major hardware store, although I’d encourage you to buy tools you haven’t used before locally at a mom and pop store. They generally stock higher quality tools to choose from and have people that are friendly and know what they’re doing.

Ease of Use

If you have used fertilizer before, then you will find Sunday products very easy to use. They don’t work appreciably differently from most fertilizer products, and they’re shipped right to your door.

If you haven’t used fertilizers before, then there is a learning curve. Thankfully, Sunday has a very informative website that will help you learn how to use their fertilizer products. All the equipment that you’ll be using is made by Sunday and is specific to the products that you received, the only exception of this will be the fertilizer spreader that you purchase and those are relatively straightforward, you should be able to get by with the manual and maybe a couple YouTube videos on the subject.

Effectiveness

Sunday’s products work. Even the great DIY expert, Bob Vila, is a big fan of Sunday, and he has a glowing review that you can find on Google easily enough. He’s not wrong. Their fertilizers are top-notch, and because they match the fertilizer that you need to the soil type that you have, it just works. In my experience, trying to replicate these kinds of results on your own without the advantage of sending off your soil to a third party lab for thorough testing is remarkably difficult. I will be honest, I eventually stopped pursuing “The Perfect Lawn” simply because it was difficult.

While it’s a bit early to see the results in my lawn, I’ve already noticed more green and more resilience in my grass, as well as pet patches and the part of my lawn that was dug up to bury propane lines recovering much faster than it was on its own.

Price

This is the one place I personally balk at any lawn care service. For the price and quality you get, Sunday is amazing – but you will be paying a few to several hundred dollars a year to get a perfect lawn. For me, that’s steep.

For the Ultimate Urban Weekend Warrior, this may be the edge you need against Jim, the next door neighbor who is always one home improvement project ahead of you. It may free up valuable time otherwise wasted on soil guesswork to build that Ultimate Backyard Patio, set up those string lights (mine change color in time with the music, Jim!), and assemble that ultimate grill (it smokes, Jim, and fits 12 more brats at once than yours!).

All in-city-living vanity aside, Sunday is the ultimate in shortcutting your way to a gorgeous lawn, and costs a lot less than paying a lawn service that shows up (you provide the labor). It’s a great compromise and leaves you still feeling like you’ve got that DIY spirit.

sunday bare repair and dandelion doom concentrate

*Use Code HG15

Sustainability

Sunday is very proud of their sustainability. As a small homesteader who uses vermicomposting, standard composting, raises free-range chickens, doesn’t own a garbage disposal, and relies on a well for water, I heartily endorse their low or no pesticide approach. If you think spraying pesticides all over your yard is good for you or anyone else, I strongly recommend you read up on the subject and also study the alternatives. There are amazing, low effort ways to get along with the life around us that aren’t so toxic. Pesticides and herbicides should be chosen for their surgical precision, doing their jobs only where and when they’re needed to preserve all of that life we continue to learn is precious and necessary for our continued stewardship of this globe!

Sunday actually helps you turn your lawn into an eco-friendly, thick, living turf. Read their article on it! If you’ve ever stuck a shovel into your lawn and been disappointed at hitting rock or clearly dead stuff two inches down, look at the photo of the turf they’ll help you develop over the years. Living soil should be several inches of a loam that moves almost like it’s alive when you first dig it up. It’s healthy, it’s biodiverse, and I’m really glad to see Sunday be successful in promoting a product that makes it happen for the average homeowner.

Is Sunday Lawn Care a Good Value?

If you want a lawn care service and you don’t mind doing the (minimal) labor, I’m not sure it gets better than Sunday. It’s easy to understand, easy to use, takes an approach of minimal harm/change to the land, and will work sustainably for years.

If you’re like me and don’t mind biodiversity in your lawn that includes  –shudders— WEEDS (Dandelion wine is a thing, and I actually cultivate them for that and their health benefits!), then Sunday is a bit too expensive and a bit too urban/one-size-fits-all for you. You’ll need to continue puttering along with your own study and buying (or making) your own fertilizers and compost.

If you fall into the latter category you may look at the sprayers provided and note they’re not solid brass with stainless steel fittings. That’s okay. This isn’t made for your fifteen-acre project, and anyone with a less than 1 acre yard they just want to look better than Jim’s already is going to get all the use out of those tools that they need!

FAQ

Is everything needed for use provided?

Yes, except a spreader for the powdered fertilizer. You can get push versions or carry versions of these. If you have a very, very small yard (1/3rd an acre or less of grass), you might get away with a wearable version. If you have more than ½ an acre, I highly recommend you opt for a wheeled push model. Your back will love you for it.

Do I have to buy any other lawn products?

Nope. It comes with everything you need, unless you have some very specialized problem outside basic lawn needs (killing woody brush, etc).

Do I need to keep buying it?

Yes. Like with any lawn products, you will need to keep applying it, although the initial treatments are going to be the most intensive and require the most product. Each year you’ll move more toward maintaining excellence as opposed to starting from scratch.

Our Experience With Sunday Lawn Care

I received 4 decent-sized boxes of fertilizer, sprayers, a soil sample-taking kit, sprays for pet burn areas, and dandelion herbicide.

Everything was packaged pretty well. One of the boxes with 4 bags of fertilizer busted a little in shipping, but the fertilizer inside was still intact. One really nice touch with the packaging is that Sunday used cardboard with so little coloring on it that it’s compostable – even vermicomposting, meaning my worms accept it as food once it’s torn up and moistened! Don’t let that gross you out too much. Worms are a much better way to get rid of certain waste than landfills or garbage disposal. They’re like having a paper recycling center in your own garage.

I have done lawn care before and worked at a large-chain hardware store early in my career (that’s why I recommend skipping them for mom and pop places!), so I didn’t find any of the products challenging to use. You mix the concentrates in the provided spray bag and use the included electric sprayer. Some of the other liquid products you attach to your garden hose. Each product has a QR code that takes you to the website to show you how to use it.

Honestly, if I could give Sunday any feedback, it would be this: Print more complete directions and stick them in the box. QR codes are cool, and they work, but if I were new to this and I were out in my backyard all sweaty and mucky in the bright sun, the last thing I want to do is try to operate my phone with my yardwork gloves on and watch a video. Graphics-based directions printed in the inside of the box or just a one-pager provided for each product shipped would be sufficient to show how the products are used for most folks!

As I said earlier, it’s a little early for me to see major results, but in the couple weeks I’ve had the products it’s clear to me they’re already working. If you’re after a subscription lawn care service, you won’t be unhappy with Sunday.

Conclusion

Wrapping up, Sunday Lawn Care is a serious contender in the lawn care world, straddling the line between pure DIY and paying the people in the big green van to do the work for you. Doing the labor yourself saves big bucks, and the results are every bit as good (if not better).

For those of us who homestead and don’t mind seeing plants other than grass in their 5 acre yards, it may not be the best choice, and both the ordering process and quality of tools provided drive that point home. I’d also like to see better directions in the box.

That said, Sunday is rolling into urban areas more and more and I can see why – they’re not letting the grass grow under their feet – ha! They are environmentally conscious, easy to use, and should make the average yard-haver very happy.

Bestway Wingback Queen Air Mattress with Built-in AC Pump

Who Makes Bestway Air Mattresses & Where Are They Produced?

The Bestway Air Mattresses are designed and manufactured in the United States. The design and manufacturing facility is dog-friendly and located in Chandler, Arizona. The company prides itself on a diverse and positive workforce that has been designing and producing air mattresses along with other inflatable products for over ten years.

To reduce their impact on the ecosystem, the company limits what materials they send to the landfill. They also have the plant partially solar-powered to reduce energy and protect the environment.

Who Are Bestway Air Mattresses Best Suited For?

Bestway has a wide range of options for consumers that have limited space. The twin sizes available include the flocked model, an excellent choice for a sleepover with the grandkids. The queen-size options include regular and wing-backed, ideal for hosting a friend from out of town. A Bestway air mattress is the way to go for campers who may prefer to be off the ground but need an air mattress that is not bulky. You can purchase the air mattress with features and accessories like built-in pumps, cup holders, and auto inflation technology. The models range in height, material, price, and quality, so be sure to get one that fits your needs. For individuals that are overweight, however, you may want to look at a heavy-duty option.

Who Might Do Better With a Different Brand?

If you are in the market for a heavy-duty air mattress that can accommodate an individual with excess weight, the King Koil Luxury California King Air Mattress may be a better option for you. The mattress is not only firm, but the coil technology helps it keep its shape and firmness when the excess weight causes it to stretch. This heavy-duty mattress has a built-in pump and a deflate knob, so an individual who may have difficulty bending and lifting will find it easier to use than other brands.

The King Koil Luxury California King air mattress has a heavy-duty quilted top and suede fabric for comfort and durability. This option may be more affordable and a quality option for heavier individuals.

    Discussion of Product Quality

The product quality of the Bestway Air Mattresses will vary depending on the model. A budget-friendly option like the Aerolax Queen Raised Air Bed with Built-in Pump is lightweight, made of plastic, and inexpensive. However, the Wingback Queen Air mattress has an item weight of about 30 pounds, is made of polyester and plastic, includes unique features, and is significantly more expensive than the Aerolax design.

Although the queen-size mattress is the most popular size for most, Bestway air mattresses are also available in twin sizes.

The product’s features and price also vary depending on the model you purchase. For example, the wingback model is equipped with an AC pump, so inflation is quick and easy. The backrest ensures comfort, and it includes cup holders, led lights, and storage buckets for convenience. These added features do come with a price tag, however. On the other hand, the features of the Aerolax model are limited to a built-in pump, but it is a budget-friendly design.

There have been negative customer reviews that report inferior quality, seam tears, and inability to maintain air. Keep in mind that the complaints can also result from abuse or misuse of the product. For example, if a child bounces on the mattress or the user or users exceed the weight capacity, it can affect the product performance.

It is worth mentioning, however, that the Bestway AlwayzAire is equipped with internal sensors to monitor and maintain airflow throughout the night. The mattress is designed to automatically maintain the pressure without disturbing your sleep. Adding a feature like this can certainly validate the customers’ claims pertaining to an inability to maintain the air in some of the models.

One more thing to consider when you are purchasing an air mattress is the fabric or material. Some materials can make you hot or sweaty, and it will be difficult to sleep. Other materials like plastic can have an offensive odor that is sickening or unpleasant. It is something to pay attention to when making your air mattress purchase.

The Bestway Company has air mattresses that are specifically for children and toddlers. What better way to make bedtime at grandma’s or a friend’s house exciting and fun than with the Bestway Up, In, and Over Yellow 4×4 Truck Air Mattress or one of the other novel designs? These unique Bestway Air Mattresses are ideal whether you are going home for a holiday or on summer vacation, and they can prevent bedtime drama.

Reviews of the 3 Best Bestway Air Mattresses

    1. Bestway Wingback Queen Air Mattress w/Built-in Pump Air Mattress

Bestway Wingback Queen Air Mattress with Built-in Pump Air Mattress

In reviewing Bestway Air Mattresses, we chose Bestway Wingback Queen Air Mattress w/Built-in Pump for one of the best air mattresses for price, comfort, and design. While it may not be the least expensive model for Bestway, it is designed to keep its shape and firmness while you sleep.

The air mattress is equipped with a built-in pump that is quiet and easy to use. With the turn of a knob, it can be fully inflated in five minutes or less. The inflated height of 31.5”, along with the winged back for support, allows you to sit back, relax, and be comfortable.

The design of this air mattress is not only comfortable, but the LED lights and cup holders are also a bonus to an already useful product.

The mattress comes complete with instructions, a convenient storage bag, and one repair patch in case of an accidental tear or puncture.

    2. Bestway Aerolax Raised Queen Size Air Bed with Built-In Pump

Bestway Aerolax Raised Queen Size Air Bed with Built-In Pump

If you are looking for a budget-friendly Air Mattress, the Bestway Aerolax Raised Queen Size Air Bed with Built-In Pump is a convenient and inexpensive air mattress for things like camping and having a sleepover. The air mattress is equipped with a built-in pump, so it is quick and easy to use. The design is complete with a pillow and a flocked surface, so you will feel warm, comfortable, and cozy.

The air mattress has a height of 12 inches when inflated and can be used in or outdoors.

It comes complete with a heavy-duty patch and a transport bag.

The Bestway Aerolax model is a basic air mattress that did not have a lot of reviews. We think the price may be a bit high for a mattress that lacks features, but it does serve the purpose.

    3. Bestway Up, In and Over Yellow 4×4 Truck Air Bed for Children

Bestway Up, In and Over Yellow 4x4 Truck Air Bed for Children

In our review of Bestway Air Mattresses, we could not overlook the Bestway Up, In and Over Yellow 4×4 Truck Air Bed for our favorite for children. Along with the truck design, the company also has other designs for kids that include dogs, unicorns, and teddy bears, among others. The mattress is lightweight, so it is easily packed and transported.

The novelty air mattress is sure to please any child or toddler and hopefully prevent bedtime commotion. The mattress does not have a built-in pump or any other distinctive features.

Most customers were pleased with the mattress and report that their children love it. There were some that reported difficulty inflating the mattress and keeping it full of air, however.

In our review of the Bestway air mattresses, we found a wide variety of models, so you can find one that fits your needs and aligns with your budget. The Bestway Wing-Backed model is excellent for someone looking for an air mattress with special features and back support. The Aerolax is an excellent option for those on a budget and looking for a basic air mattress. There are even novelty air mattresses sure to excite and make bedtime a joyful event for children.

  • The 10 Best Cleaning Supplies at Target

    1. Dawn Platinum Powerwash – Best Overall

    Dawn Platinum Powerwash

    Size: 16 ounces
    Product Type: Cleaning Spray
    Weight: 1.29 pounds

Dawn is a household name. For years we’ve heard about its grease-cutting capabilities when it comes to cleaning caked-on messes from our dishes. Our choice for the best overall cleaning supply at Target is Dawn Platinum Powerwash. This spray is an ideal way to focus that cleaning power on specific areas, whether it is on your dishes or not. One of the most impressive things about this cleaner is that it sprays directly where you need it. You’ll also find that the formula is powerful and safe enough to use throughout any part of your home. With a little Dawn Platinum Powerwash and a bit of elbow grease you can easily clean your oven, and all parts of your kitchen, or even scrub away grime in your bathtub. They even offer handy refills instead of buying a new spray bottle each time you run out.

The only downside to this cleaning supply is that it runs out rather quickly. Yes, the refills are handy, but if you put the power of Dawn to use in multiple areas of your home, alongside your dishwashing needs, you’ll find yourself going through refills rather quickly.

    Pros
    • The spray feature focuses on the area needing to be cleaned
    • The powerful formula is 5x faster than the original Dawn
    • Can be safely used for multiple cleaning projects
    Cons
    • The cleaner runs out quickly if used for more than dishes

    2. Method Antibacterial All Purpose Spray – Best Value

    Method Antibacterial All Purpose Spray

    Size: 28 fluid ounces
    Product Type: Cleaning Spray
    Weight: 1.99 pounds

For properly cleaning an area, having an all-purpose spray makes life easier. When you can add antibacterial properties, even better. This is why we’ve chosen Method Antibacterial All Purpose Spray as our best cleaning supply at Target for the money. Method comes in multiple scents that allow you to choose the freshness you have in your home. We also love the cleaning power behind it. Countertops and other surface areas are left with a great shine when using this product. Made with citric acid, this spray can kill up to 99.9% of common household germs. Add in the fact that this cleaner is very affordable and it’s a winning combination for your home.

While Method offers several fragrance options to choose from, some of the scents featured in their all-purpose spray can be quite strong. People with sensitivities may not be able to use this product in multiple areas in the home due to this. But, we think it’s one of the best cleaning supplies at Target for the money.

    Pros
    • Kills up to 99.9% of common household germs
    • Cleans most surfaces safely
    • Affordable
    Cons
    • Scents may be too strong for some people and animals

    3. Rubbermaid Power Scrubber – Premium Choice

    Rubbermaid Power Scrubber

    Size: 12.68 inches (H) x 1.75 inches (W) x 7.0 inches (D)
    Product Type: Battery-operated cleaning tool
    Weight: 0.64 pounds

At times, build-up happens around the house. This is why having cleaning supplies with a little power comes in handy. The Rubbermaid Power Scrubber is ideal for this purpose. The oscillating head on this power scrubber increases cleaning time. You can finish your job quicker and get back to your daily activities. We also like that the size and design of the brush head make it easy for cleaning hard-to-reach areas and scouring grout lines. The power scrubber also features two settings, comes with an extra head, is designed to be comfortable in your hand, and even includes batteries for getting started.

Keep in mind, when purchasing this power scrubber, it is not intended for big jobs. If you have a lot of areas to clean in your house, this wouldn’t be the best option. While it’s great at getting into the difficult-to-reach areas when you’re cleaning, the overall durability will be lacking if you attempt long-term use.

    Pros
    • Designed to fit into tight areas for better cleaning
    • Comes with an extra cleaning head
    • Fits comfortably in your hand
    Cons
    • Not intended for big jobs
    • May not be as durable when used for prolonged cleaning jobs

    4. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers

    Mr. Clean Magic Erasers

    Size: 6-count box
    Product Type: Cleaning sponge
    Weight: 0.11 pounds

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have been around for a long time. However, it’s difficult to not include them in a Target cleaning supply review. Now, you can even find them designed specifically for problem areas like the kitchen and bathroom. The original Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work great when trying to rid your home of tough stains. They include no harsh chemicals and only need water added to do the job. What you’ll really love is the fact that these little sponges last for a long time. They can be used on walls, stoves, countertops, tubs, and almost any surface you need to clean.

Although they are made from Durafoam and designed to be long-lasting, you will find that a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will break apart or rip when tackling major cleaning jobs. If you’re planning on cleaning rough surfaces, you may be better suited to choosing one of the other Mr. Clean Magic Eraser options designed specifically for those issues.

    Pros
    • No harsh chemicals are needed for cleaning
    • Can be used on multiple surfaces
    • Multiple types to buy
    Cons
    • Not tough enough for big jobs on rough surfaces

    5. Scrubbing Bubbles Grime Fighter Bathroom Cleaner

Scrubbing Bubbles Grime Fighter Bathroom Cleaner

    Size: 32 ounces
    Product Type: Cleaning spray
    Weight: 2.26 pounds

Scrubbing Bubbles Grime Fighter is a tough cleaner for one of the most used rooms of your home, the bathroom. This cleaner can be used on multiple surfaces inside your bathroom and attacks grime with its special formula. Scrubbing Bubbles is tough on soap scum and is easy to use. For many cleans, you’ll find that you simply spray and let the bubbles do the work. For tougher, built-in stains and grime, a bit of elbow grease may be required. We also like that it is antibacterial and leaves a fresh, citrus scent after use.

Most people who are used to Scrubbing Bubbles have seen the foam. This spray works in the same way but does not foam up like it used to. If you would prefer the foam, it is still available.

    Pros
    • Tough on soap scum
    • Easy to use
    • Kills germs and bacteria inside your bathroom
    Cons
    • Does not foam like the original

    6. O’ Cedar EasyWring Spin Mop and Bucket System

O’ Cedar EasyWring Spin Mop and Bucket System

    Size: 19.5 inches (H) x 11.5 inches (W) x 13.35 inches (D)
    Product Type: Mopping system
    Weight: 4.85 pounds

Gone are the days of using a traditional mop and bucket when you have the O’ Cedar EasyWring Spin Mop and Bucket System. This cleaning tool is easy to use on light cleaning days or extremely handy for spring cleaning. The microfiber mop head is designed to remove 99% of the dirt, grime, and bacteria on your floors without the addition of harsh cleaners. However, the design of this mop allows you to add whatever cleaner you desire without having to use your hands to wring out the mop. One mop head lasts for 3 months and is shaped so that it can easily fit into corners or tight, hard-to-reach places. The handle extends up to 48 inches and the bucket features a handy foot pedal along with a splash guard.

While this mop system is a great way to avoid wringing out a dirty mop, there is a flaw. Several users complain of the mop head randomly coming loose when tackling scrubbing jobs. You’ll also notice that the handle may be considered too short and uncomfortable for taller people.

    Pros
    • Cleans dirt, grime, and bacteria with only water
    • The removable mop head lasts up to 3 months
    • The foot pedal located on the bucket makes for hands-free wringing
    Cons
    • The mop head may come off during heavy cleaning
    • Taller people may struggle with the length of the pole

    7. Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner

    Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner

    Size: 24-ounce bottles
    Product Type: Cleaning gel
    Weight: 3.53 pounds

Cleaning the toilet is the one job no one wants. Thankfully, Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner can make it easier. This cleaning gel can be applied just beneath the rim of the toilet and left to do its work. The thickness of the gel coats the entire toilet with Lysol’s germ-killing formula to rid surfaces of up to 99.9% of bacteria. The design of the bottle allows you to use the gel in hard-to-reach areas of your toilet to leave things sparkling clean afterward.

This toilet bowl cleaner is advertised as strong enough to use without the need for scrubbing. However, if you have stains or wear on your toilet, a toilet brush or wand will be needed to get things tidied up.

    Pros
    • Kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria found in your toilet
    • The bottle is designed to make application easier
    • The thick gel clings to surfaces for a more complete clean
    Cons
    • Tough stains will still require a toilet brush or wand

    8. Clorox Toilet Wand Toilet Cleaning System

Clorox Toilet Wand Toilet Cleaning System

    Size: 4.75 inches (H) x 15.31 inches (W) x 4.41 inches (D)
    Product Type: Toilet wand
    Weight: 1.05 pounds

If the Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner isn’t enough to tackle your cleaning needs, the Clorox Toilet Wand Toilet Cleaning System is a great addition to your arsenal. This system comes with a handy wand to make reaching into the toilet easier and less messy. The scrubbing heads are hexagon shaped to reach areas well while being pre-loaded with Clorox cleaner to help eliminate the issue and 99.9 % of germs. When you’re finished, simply pop the head off with the release and replace the wand with its handy storage caddy. The cleaning is much better than what you’d experience using a toilet brush.

Unfortunately, each pad is only a one-use item. After cleaning, they must be disposed of in the trash can (definitely not the toilet). This leaves users having to buy replacement scrubbers often as the initial starter pack only comes with 6.

    Pros
    • Scrubbing heads are designed for easy use inside the toilet
    • Clorox cleaner is pre-loaded inside
    • Features a handy caddy for easier storage
    Cons
    • Each scrubbing head can only be used once

    9. Swiffer Duster Heavy Duty Pet Starter System

Swiffer Duster Heavy Duty Pet Starter System

    Size: 15.157 inches (L) x 4.665 inches (W) x 2.252 inches (H)
    Product Type: Duster
    Weight: 0.112 pounds

Dust is an issue anywhere you go, especially if animals are involved. When grabbing the best cleaning supplies to deal with this issue, the Swiffer Duster Heavy Duty Pet Starter System comes in handy. Swiffer dusters have been around for a long time. You may wonder what makes this one different. It has a 360-degree design like several other Swiffers on the market and an extendable wand, but being targeted for pet hair makes this one a bit better in the long run. You can still pick up dust and pet hair on fan blades, tables, and almost any surface but you’ll also get the fresh scent of Febreze to leave rooms smelling great.

The biggest downside to any Swiffer product is the cost. Yes, the starter pack is very affordable, but if you use the duster often, you’ll find yourself needing to buy lots of replacement duster packs. This can become costly, especially if you have lots of animals in your home to clean up after.

    Pros
    • The 360-degree design makes dusting easier
    • Features an extendable wand
    • Febreze fabric refresher is included in the duster refills of this starter set
    Cons
    • Can become costly to buy replacement dusting heads

    10. Dapple All Purpose Cleaning Wipes

    Dapple All Purpose Cleaning Wipes

    Size: 75 wipes
    Product Type: Disinfecting wipe
    Weight: 1.33 pounds

If you have kids around the house, using harsh chemicals when cleaning can be dangerous. You also need something you can grab quickly to wipe up messes and get back to your daily routine. Dapple All Purpose Cleaning Wipes have combined both of those needs into one product. These wipes are safe to use on surfaces your little ones may touch. This includes counters, furniture, and even the toys they get a little rough with. They are free of any dangerous additives, are plant-based, have been tested by pediatricians, and even won the Clean Label Purity Award. Add in the fact they work great and you have a great addition to your cleaning supply list.

The biggest difference you’ll see between Dapple All Purpose Cleaning Wipes and others on the market is the wetness. These wipes are only slightly damp. This means you may need more than one for a job. Perforation is also an issue. They do not pull out easily and can leave you struggling to get what you need when messes occur.

    Pros
    • Safe to use around all members of the family
    • Pediatrician tested
    • Plant-based

Buyer’s Guide: How to Pick the Best Cleaning Supplies at Target

While there are tons of cleaning supplies you’ll find available at Target, these are our favorites. You may be curious as to how we picked them. When choosing cleaning supplies, you need to have all your bases covered. Yes, there are more tools and cleaners we could have listed but we wanted to share a little of everything. Now, let’s check out the other criteria we took into consideration when choosing our cleaning supplies so you can have a good idea of what you should keep in mind when shopping for your favorites.

    Cleaning Power

Yes, cleaning power is a major concern when choosing your supplies. The last thing you want is to buy cleaners or tools that don’t function as promised. With the cleaning supplies on our list, they do what they promise. Now, does that mean one squirt of toilet bowl cleaner or power wash is going to magically melt away grease and grime? No, it doesn’t. That’s the case with most cleaning supplies. Yes, they work well, but nothing is going to make cleaning a sit back and let the product do it situation.

    Functionality

Have you ever run out and bought a popular item then realized you didn’t really need it? That can happen anytime you step into Target. Especially when buying cleaning supplies. People like to have a new thing or grab something that looks cool. While it’s your money and you can do what you want, we kept functionality in mind when choosing the items on this list. All of these cleaning supplies can be used daily to make life easier for you. We didn’t feel there was a need to cover products that would simply sit under the cabinet or in the back of the closet collecting more dust for you to clean.

    Affordability

No one wants to waste all their money buying cleaning supplies. Luckily, Target is a great place to get deals on everyday items. As you’ll see, the most expensive items on this cleaning supply list are the tools, not the cleaners themselves. For example, the O’ Cedar Spin Mop could seem like an expensive purchase. However, this is a cleaning tool that can be used for quite some time. It will pay for itself in only a few uses. Especially if you allow the antibacterial mop head to do the job instead of adding chemicals to the bucket.

    divider 7

    Conclusion

There you have it, our list of the 10 best cleaning supplies at Target. If you want to get control of your home’s cleaning needs, any of the products on this list are great to add to your cleaning supply closet. Our favorite, however, is the Dawn Platinum Powerwash. It offers a great clean and can be used almost anywhere in the house. Another we like, especially for those on a budget, is the Method Antibacterial All Purpose Spray. It kills germs and bacteria throughout your home and is reasonably priced. The Rubbermaid Power Scrubber is our premium choice, as it can easily scrub away built-up dirt and grime. Take this list with you on your next trip to Target and grab the right cleaning supplies for your home.

Hurricanes also referred to as typhoons in some parts of the world are tropical cyclones characterized by sustained winds of 64 knots (74 mph) or higher. The winds are usually strong enough to destroy homes, as they tend to carry with them debris that acts as flying missiles.

You can clearly see how this could be a serious concern for someone living in a hurricane-prone region. Constantly having to think about ways of protecting your home should there be a storm or hurricane coming is both mentally and emotionally taxing.

While we can’t stop such natural phenomena from occurring, we could still do something to shield ourselves against the concomitant risks. And that’s where renter’s insurance comes in. Thanks to this, we could repair or replace our damaged properties and settle other expenses.

    house divider

    What’s Covered by Renters Insurance?

Traditional renter’s insurance coverage is often divided into three parts. Policy providers usually draft them in sections to make it easier for policyholders to fully understand the terms and conditions, and to avoid confusion. Your coverage will take care of:

    • Personal Property: Anything and everything that will be damaged in the apartment will be paid for. That includes your cookware, clothes, pieces of furniture, etc.
    • Liability & Medical Expenses: Under the liability cover, the insurer will gladly offer coverage to any third-party damage, but only if the policyholder is legally required to settle the expenses. This is contrary to the medical coverage that doesn’t demand any proof of obligation that the holder is to pay for the expenses.
    • Loss of Use: You’ll be reimbursed should you incur Additional Living Expenses (ALE) as a result of the damage caused.

These coverages don’t just automatically kick in. They’ll only do so IF the damage was caused by a peril listed on the insurance policy.

A lot of us seem to forget that a hurricane can damage one’s property in more than one way. Policy providers are well-acquainted with that fact, and that’s why they always make sure the details written on the agreement are crystal clear. Any keen individual will quickly realize that not all hurricane-related damages are covered by such policies.

The perfect example of damage not covered by a conventional renter’s policy is the water damage caused by a storm surge or flooding. Don’t be too quick to make assumptions, and always seek out knowledge if you wish to avoid losses. Because in the eyes of the policy provider, damaged goods are not just damaged goods. What really defines them is the type of peril involved. If you’d like to be reimbursed in full, the peril has to be covered by the renter’s insurance.

It’s pretty obvious to everyone that hurricanes are characterized by strong winds and lots of water. However, figuring out what actually ruined your piece of furniture, and convincing the provider it’s one of the perils listed on the cover, is no Sunday picnic.

They’ll still want to know if the hurricane was responsible for the damage inflicted on your property, or if it was caused by a flood facilitated by the saturated soils in the region. In case we weren’t clear the first time around, flood damage is explicitly excluded from renter’s insurance.

You’ll only be paid if you’re able to prove that the winds blew the roof off, thus exposing your personal items to the different weather elements. Assuming the windstorms are listed as a peril, you should be expecting your check sooner than later.

Those living in flood-prone areas are always encouraged to go for the flood insurance policy that protects all the contents in the house. That’s the only way that you’ll be able to avoid a lot of the nit-picking at a time when you’ll likely be distraught.

Does Renters Insurance Cover Mandatory Evacuations?

More often than not, we’ve seen people being forced to evacuate regions adversely affected by hurricanes. Does the policy cover their evacuation expenses? Not always. In fact, most policies don’t, and those that do, don’t cover everything.

Also, we’ve worked with insurers who are always willing to add the “prohibited use” coverage into a renters’ policy. So, in the event an insured homeowner is forced to vacate “due to the damages inflicted on a neighboring property by a covered peril”, their Additional Living Expenses are well catered to.

If you’ve tried to file a claim and got rejected, don’t lose hope. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will help you get back on your feet, by offering financial assistance. They usually have quite a number of programs set up, dedicated to helping hurricane victims.

Can You Claim Loss of Use If the Power Goes Out During a Hurricane?

Even though power outages are a common occurrence during hurricanes, policy providers don’t usually list it as a peril under the Loss of Use coverage. When you try to file a claim, they’ll hit you with a rejoinder explaining how the lack of electricity doesn’t make a home uninhabitable.

But if there was food in the refrigerator, and it got spoiled due to the outage, they’ll be happy to reimburse you. Just don’t forget to take photos because you’ll need them as evidence when the time comes.

    Conclusion

Before signing off, we’d like you to know that the flood insurance policy doesn’t usually cover Additional Living Expenses. Even if the expenses were incurred due to flooding, you won’t be reimbursed for living outside your rental apartment. If you’d like to be covered on all fronts, combine the two insurance products.

And remember; lives are often lost during hurricanes. Evacuate if need be, even if the Additional Living Expenses won’t be covered.

Renters insurance is an insurance policy designed to protect individuals from the financial loss of their personal belongings. Typically, it is used to protect items inside the property itself from theft, burglary, and loss due to damage.

Such a policy will not usually cover the theft of a car, which should be covered by a comprehensive auto insurance policy, but depending on the policy details, it may protect against the theft of personal vehicles from a car, even if the car is not parked at your home. From there, the coverage you enjoy will depend on the policy itself so you may be able to claim for the theft of personal items up to your limit and minus your deductible. This may include items that are inside the car when the car is stolen.

    car and road divider

    Car Theft

Renter’s insurance is a policy that protects the personal belongings of renters and tenants. As such, it is understandable that people believe that their car, van, or other vehicle would be covered by the policy. After all, it is a personal belonging and if it is stolen the owner faces financial loss. But cars are not covered by renter’s insurance policies. Instead, they should be covered under the comprehensive elements of an auto insurance policy. It is auto insurance that will pay for the loss of the car.

    Personal Belongings

Many of us keep at least some items in our cars, whether that’s items like laptops and mobile phones or maybe even walking and outdoor gear. If personal items like these are stolen from a car, these are usually covered by renter’s insurance. This is true if your car is parked on your property, on the road outside, and even if it is parked outside work or away from the home. However, there are several other factors to consider when determining how much you are entitled to.

    Limits

Every insurance policy has limits, including your renter’s insurance. This is the maximum amount of loss that a policy will cover. So, if your renter’s insurance covers you for $10,000 and $20,000 of personal belongings are taken, only half of your stolen belongings are covered.

Most policies have other limits, too. There is usually a very low limit for cash, for example, typically around $200. This is to prevent fraudulent claims of thousands of dollars of cash being paid out. There will also be a sub-limit on expensive items like jewelry, so if you leave a $10,000 wedding ring in the car and it gets stolen, the whole value of the ring may not be covered. If you have a lot of expensive jewelry, it is worth checking the sub-limit on these items and potentially paying extra to increase the limit.

    Deductibles

You will also have to consider your deductible level. This is the amount that you pay towards the loss. Some policies have a forced deductible level, and some offer voluntary deductible levels to reduce the premium paid for the policy. If your policy has a $500 deductible and it is deemed that you have lost $5,000 of property, you will receive recompense for $4,500 of the losses.

    Looking for home RENTERS insurance?

Lemonade offers some of the best insurance plans you can find on the market today!

    Conclusion

Renter’s insurance does not cover car theft, even though you might consider a car to be your personal belongings. The value of the car itself, and its parts, should be covered by an auto insurance policy. Personal belongings inside the car, including items like golf clubs as well as cell phones, and even a small amount of cash, should be protected by a renter’s insurance policy. Check the policy limit, including any sub-limit for exceptional items, and don’t forget that you have to pay the deductible amount yourself before the insurance company pays the remainder.

Insurance is one of the wisest financial moves a renter can make. But as monthly housing costs continue to rise, finding space in the budget for coverage can be increasingly challenging. A new contender in the insurance business, Lemonade, is a low-priced alternative to many traditional lenders, offering plans starting at only $5 a month!

With a model meeting the needs of modern consumers, a low rate is only one reason many renters are moving to Lemonade. Discover why you should spare a few minutes for a quote as we explore the coverage and cost of Lemonade renters insurance in 2023.

    house divider

    The Importance of Renter’s Insurance

Most renters can’t afford to put off getting renters insurance. At a national average of about $15 per month, renters insurance helps you cover unexpected losses from theft, fire, natural disasters, water damage, and liability for bodily injury that occurs on your property.1 Many policies can even help you pay for temporary housing if a covered incident wrecked your apartment.

It typically costs less than $20 monthly for at least $20,000 worth of property insurance. You still have to cover your deductible with any claims and pay around $500 or more before your insurance kicks in. But if someone breaks into your home and takes all of your electronics or a fire destroys everything, it’s a small price to pay to put the pieces back together.

How Much Does Lemonade Renters Insurance Cost?

One of Lemonade’s primary selling points for its renter’s insurance policies is their low monthly costs, which the company advertises as starting at $5 per month. Prices vary according to location and other variables based on your insurance coverage choices, such as your deductible and coverage limit. Here’s an idea of how the two can affect your rates based on an actual Lemonade quote.

    Coverage Premium w/ $500 Deductible Premium w/ $2,500 Deductible
    $50,000 property/$100,000 liability $17.92/month $13.34/month
    $75,000 property/$200,000 liability $25.25/month $19.17/month

Note: Quote based on a 35-year-old male renter in New York, NY

Insurance rates also change according to your medical liability coverage for medical expenses and loss of use coverage to pay for living expenses if your home is unlivable. Lemonade’s coverage amounts allow you to get the kind of insurance you want at a price you can afford. Ranges for their coverage areas include:

    • Personal property: $10,000–$250,000
    • Personal liability: $100,000–$500,000
    • Loss of use: $3,000–$200,000
    • Medical payments: $1,000–$5,000

With the bare minimum coverage at each level and a $2,500 deductible, our 35-year-old New Yorker will only pay $60.00 per year or $5.00 per month. On the other end of the spectrum, the highest limits and lowest deductible ($250) costs $107.67 per month.

    Lemonade Renters Insurance Discounts

Lemonade offers numerous ways to save with its renter’s insurance policies. A fire or burglar alarm can net another 1–2 percentage points off your premium, as can an annual payoff plan where one payment covers an entire year.

You also have the option to bundle with a Lemonade pet health and auto insurance plan. Auto insurance is only available in Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas, but pet health insurance is now optional in 37 states (plus D.C.). Lemonade continues to expand. You can get instant updates on new insurance opportunities in your state with their regional rollout notification system.

    Additional Costs to Anticipate

Additional insurance for valuables is available through Lemonade’s renter’s insurance plans. Covering expensive items such as jewelry, fine art, bikes, and instruments, these add-ons cost roughly an extra $0.15–$2.00 per month for every $1,000 in coverage, depending on the item.

Lemonade lets you add your spouse to your policy free of charge and your landlord as an interested party to keep them aware of insurance changes. Additional monthly coverages include water back-up in case a sewer backs up, landlord property damage, and appliance breakdown coverage for appliances and electronics that fail.

How Often Should I Shop Renters Insurance?

Renter’s insurance is often inexpensive enough for many renters to renew their policies without shopping around. According to SafeHome’s 2022 Renters Insurance Industry Report, 55% of renters have renters insurance. But of those with insurance, only 14% plan to shop for a new policy. Meanwhile, only 16% of uninsured renters expect to buy insurance within 12 months.

As a general rule, checking insurance rates is a wise idea about 2–3 weeks before your current plan expires. But if you’re dissatisfied with it, there’s rarely a wrong time to look for a different provider or policy. Shopping for new renters insurance policies every 6 months can help you stay on top of missed discounts and unique coverage combinations to match your needs better.

With the ease of use and notably low monthly costs for coverage, exploring Lemonade’s offerings is worth the short, hassle-free process of getting a quote. Even basic insurance of around $5 per month can provide a substantial safety net when the unimaginable strikes. If you’ve shopped Lemonade before but couldn’t obtain coverage in your area, they’re constantly expanding, and new services may now be available.

What Does Lemonade Renter’s Insurance Cover?

Lemonade insurance is generally inexpensive but doesn’t offset its low costs with subpar insurance. Its renter’s insurance covers all the perils you would expect in a typical plan, including:

    • Theft
    • Fire and smoke
    • Vandalism
    • Internal water damage
    • Wind and hail
    • Lightning

Lemonade pays out on plans according to the replacement value of the items. Unlike actual cash value, replacement value does not consider depreciation but rather the current cost of a similar model. For instance, if you lost a $300 pair of shoes, and those same shoes are now available for $250, you’ll receive $250 to replace them.

Plans do not cover floods, earthquakes (except in California and Arkansas), or mold and pest-related damage. Coverage also doesn’t extend to your landlord’s property or your roommate’s items. You can add a spouse for free and a significant other for an additional monthly fee.

    Lemonade Renters Insurance Add-Ons

Scheduled personal property coverage for expensive items, including bikes, fine art, instruments, jewelry, and cameras, is also optional. The extra insurance provides up to an additional $50,000 in relief, depending on the item, but also gives you bonus perks beyond your other standard coverage. Claims on these items have no deductible, and you can make them on accidental damage and mysterious loss.

Equipment breakdown coverage, another add-on, can cover appliances and electronics if they fail from an electrical or mechanical malfunction. You can also get a food loss of up to $10,000 if the fridge goes out. Coverage only costs around $3 a month.

How to Handle Lemonade Renter’s Insurance Claims

Lemonade offers much more than low prices. The company gained notoriety quickly since its founding in 2015, thanks to a blend of exceptional pricing, customer service, and user experience centered around its AI-driven platform.

A critical component of that experience is the quick and simple claims process. While many companies can take 1–4 weeks to process a claim, Lemonade streamlines the process with the convenience of their app. With the click of a button and a submitted video or photos of your claim situation, you can often get an instant payout within minutes.

    house divider

    Final Thoughts

Lemonade shakes up traditional insurance with its unique position as a transparent and customer-centric provider. Obtaining coverage takes only a few seconds, claims can pay out in less than two minutes, and the Giveback program lets you contribute to a meaningful charity without lifting a finger. Renter’s insurance is generally inexpensive when you choose Lemonade, but the inherent convenience and consciousness truly set it apart.

Greenhouse farming is practiced both on a large and small scale. At home, having a small greenhouse protects the plants against harsh conditions during winter and improves productivity. According to Science Direct1, greenhouse technology can multiply production by up to 15 times that of open-field farming.

With high production comes extra expenses, such as buying or making greenhouse tables. Greenhouse tables hold plant trays and support low-growing crops like strawberries for easy harvesting.

For many reasons, having sturdy and durable tables should be a top priority. Here are the top DIY greenhouse tables you can make today.

    divider 5

    The 4 DIY Greenhouse Tables

    1. Rolling Tables

    DIY rolling greenhouse tables
Materials: Stainless steel frames, stainless-steel rods, a metal sheet, and a welding rod
Tools: Welder, hack saw, tape measure, hammer
    Difficulty: Hard

Rolling greenhouse tables maximizes the use of space by up to 33%, improves movement between isles, and has a positive impact on the internal climate by allowing air to circulate freely between rows.

To be functional, rolling tables employ a simple design technique—build a table where the top can be moved over rollers.

Start by building a sturdy stainless-steel stand measuring 3 by 6 feet. Next, construct a table top measuring 4 by 8 feet using lightweight and waterproof materials such as plastic or aluminum sheets. Note that we are using a slightly wider top for stability.

Rather than welding or screwing the top on the stand, fix rollers at the right place. The purpose of rollers is to allow the top to move freely on the stationary stand. For this, you will need two 8 feet long stainless-steel guide rollers or round stainless-steel rods up to an inch thick.

Place the rollers on top of the stand lengthwise. You may place small notches on aprons to prevent them from moving but ensure they are rotating around the same place. Lastly, place the top on the rollers.

    2. Movable Table

    DIY Movable Table
Materials: Heavy-duty castors, screws, bolts, and nuts
    Tools: Spanner and screwdriver
    Difficulty: Simple

At any time of the year, a greenhouse is a beehive of activities. You might be planting in the morning, pruning in the afternoon, and harvesting in the evening. Some of these activities require more space to move around than others. This is where a movable table comes in.

A movable greenhouse table is made in a similar way to a normal table, only that it has castors at the bottom.

Equipping castors on a table requires the castors themselves, a screwdriver or a spanner, and screws or nuts and bolts. Buy 4-inch heavy-duty castors and bolt or screw them on the table legs. It is essential to go for heavy-duty casters with a minimum carrying capacity of at least 1,000 pounds to support growing plants and the potting medium.

    3. Foldable Greenhouse Table

    DIY Foldable Greenhouse Table
Materials: Several hinges or chains, wooden slats, steel frames or 4x4s, nails, a long piece of steel angle, nuts and bolts
Tools: Saw, tape measure, hammer, power drill, spirit level, and a spanner
    Difficulty: Medium

A foldable greenhouse table offers gardeners and greenhouse owners a practical and convenient way to cultivate plants in a small, structured space. It is thus a great alternative to ordinary tables, which are difficult to work with in limited spaces.

You can use wood or metal when making a foldable table, depending on your preferences. Of course, wooden tables are easy to make and inexpensive. In contrast, it is challenging to work with metal, but the final product is long-lasting.

    4. Multi-Tiered Greenhouse Table

    DIY Multi-Tiered Greenhouse Table
Materials: Steel frames, mesh panels, metallic sheets, nuts, and bolts
Tools: Drill and drill bit, miter saw, welder
    Difficulty: Simple

Multi-tiered tables multiply greenhouse space by several times thanks to their ability to use vertical space. Besides space maximization, the tables are stunning and easy to make.

After assembling all the tools, determine the size of the table you want to have, then make sure you have all the required materials before building the basic frame.

Simply build another table of the same size as the first one and place it on top of the original table to form a 2-tier table. Remember to secure the legs of the top table on the original table’s top with nuts and bolts or screws.

Repeat the process until you have a three or four-tiered table.

The two-tier greenhouse table has two wide growing platforms. The bottom tier is known as the ground-level tier. Use it as a storage space for empty pots, potting media, and large plants. Smaller plants or seedlings grow vibrantly on the upper level where there is a lot of sunlight, airflow is great, and temperatures are high.

3-tier tables are best suited for growers who require more space than what the 2-tier offers. Mature plants can be placed in the bottom tier, while those in the vegetative stage are in the middle zone. Use the top zone to grow seedlings.

While every gardener may want to enjoy the benefits of multi-tier tables, please note that:

    • The higher the table goes, the more unstable it becomes. Use a wide base for extra support. Also, avoid placing large and heavy pots on the top two tiers.
    • Ensure the top tiers are easy to access or consider buying a small ladder or a stool.
    • To promote better plant growth, have grow lights fitted on the bottom two tiers.

    tool divider

    Conclusion

Greenhouse tables maximize growing areas and allow gardeners to access plants easily during watering, pruning, or harvesting. With simple tools, you can create foldable, multi-tiered, or foldable greenhouse tables. Additionally, if you have traditional tables, you can make them movable by bolting heavy-duty castors on each leg.

For instance, liability coverage if someone is injured in your apartment or additional living expenses if you have to move out while the damage is being repaired.

The amount of coverage provided by a renters insurance policy varies depending on how much you pay for it and the specific limits of your plan. Generally speaking, though, it should be enough to cover the cost of replacing your belongings if they are damaged or destroyed by a covered peril, like fire.

It’s also important to note that renters’ insurance does not cover the actual dwelling unit itself—the walls, windows, and other structural elements of your apartment are the responsibility of your landlord.

    Understanding Deductibles and Limits

When it comes to renters’ insurance and fire damage, deductibles and limits are two of the most important factors to understand.

A deductible is the amount that you need to pay out-of-pocket before your policy covers any expenses. The higher the deductible, the lower your premiums will be—but this means that if you do experience a loss due to fire, you’ll have to pay more out-of-pocket before your policy kicks in.

Limits refer to the maximum amount of coverage that your policy will provide. If the cost of replacing or repairing your belongings exceeds this limit, then you’ll be responsible for covering the rest.

    Understanding Exclusions

It’s also important to be aware of exclusions—things that are not covered by your renters’ insurance policy. Examples of these include damage due to floods, earthquakes, or other natural disasters.

Make sure you read through your policy carefully so that you understand exactly what is and isn’t covered by your renters’ insurance when it comes to fire damage.
